The Man Behind GLUE:
8th-Light, a Producer, Emcee, and Engineer from San Antonio, Texas, discovered his passion for music early, inspired by his mother in a single-parent household. He began with youth choir and violin lessons before excelling as a percussionist in his middle school band, winning UIL competitions. A fan of rap from TV, radio, and Screw music, he spent his teen years freestyling and writing poetry. His deep dive into hip-hop culture began during his freshman year of high school.
After graduating, 8th-Light became a teen father and married, but later chose to focus on his music career, divorcing two years later. On New Year’s Eve 2008, he moved to New York City with his two-year-old son to pursue audio engineering at the Institute of Audio Research. Balancing full-time work, school, and single parenthood, he graduated with honors and interned at Cukoos Nest Recording Studio in Queens, mentored by Grammy-winning Engineer Shamel Hughes (known for his work with H.E.R., Aretha Franklin, and Busta Rhymes).
After four years in New York, 8th-Light returned to San Antonio, working at Guitar Center and BJORNS AV, where he forged connections within the local music industry. Today, he owns Label GLUE Media Group LLC, reflecting his resilience, talent, and dedication to his craft.
